Assessments

All students studying at the College undergo an assessment of their ability (except those attending for intensive short courses).

Assessment is an integral part of the teaching and learning process here at Rastrick. Our care, help and support will enable you to access the full curriculum of your chosen course of study and is central to our expertise. The assessments below take place at the start of your tutorial sessions.

  • Tuition for Years 1 – 9 in Maths and English. Each child will be assessed for achievements in Maths and English, identifying strengths and weakness, enabling our tuition to be effective. This takes places during the first two tutorial lessons.
  • 11+ Tuition. This is a College speciality and children are assessed in a full range of elements in order to determine their potential for Grammar School. We carry out an IQ potential, assess their ability and if a candidate is suitable, work out a tuition programme. This should start preferably at Year Three but we can assess and tutor a child at any point before the 11+ Examinations. These assessments are integrated into tutorial sessions.

Appropriate assessment for each individual will be carried out during the tutorial sessions for the following courses or combination of courses:

  • GCSE
  • A-level
  • Vocational Courses
