Sixth Form Tutorial College

We offer two year GCSE and A-level courses from students aged 16 to adult. These are for all abilities including those with special educational needs. All of these are taught by one to one personalised tutors and in smaller groups of fewer than ten students. We also offer the GCSE English baccalaureate five subjects together with a whole range of shorter courses, including extensive revision and examination preparation.

We enable students to take their qualifications and also take paid work on the days they are not timetabled. This is for students who wish to sit or re-sit GCSEs or AS or A2 Levels part-time. Students can also attend the college full-time and chose extra subjects for study.

We value spending time with our students and their parents to discuss all of the courses available. The full UK Boards Examinations programme is in operation. Examinations are usually taken in the summer, but can be accommodated at other examination sessions. A feature of Rastrick Independent is that we are not tied to a single examination board and are able to offer individual students the opportunity to select the examination specification which best meets their needs – something other colleges are not able to facilitate.

Our speciality is providing a safe, secure yet challenging education for young people. Ours is a very different environment to a large sixth form college which may not be the most appropriate setting for some young people, especially those who have been home – schooled or those who do not like crowds.

In the Sixth Form College we prepare students for public examinations but in addition to this, we prepare them for leaving school and moving to university or employment. We offer a highly personal approach modelled on a tutorial system at all ability levels, including those who have not been able to achieve their full potential in a conventional school setting.
