Special Educational Support

Rastrick Tutorial College has experienced, specialist tutors educating students who require support to reach their goals.

We have established links with specialists at Local Educational Authorities and the 3D Centre in Halifax, West Yorkshire, to ensure students have the very best educational support. We work alongside all the agencies involved.

If a pupil is deemed to have special educational needs, a statement or dyslexia, an Individual Educational Plan is established in conjunction with the student, parent and College.

Together with an assessment of your child, we shall continue to support them with one on one tuition from our special needs tutors. Extra time would be sought for examination and emphasis given to enable your child to access the full curriculum.

If a more detailed assessment of your child’s needs is required, the College’s own Educational Psychologist is available for referral.

The College has experienced tutors of special educational needs and dyslexia. They teach and also advise and work alongside the tutor.

If your child takes up tuition in any subject at the College from Years 1 – 9, assessment of their abilities and potential takes place during their first four lessons. Students will receive a learning pack which can be purchased from the College and consists of books at the appropriate level and need, a homework diary in order to liaise with parents and a range of homework papers, tests and books in order that your child can prepare for their next lesson whilst at home.
